Franchise icon Arnold Schwarzenegger might be returning to the universe of Predator after all! Apparently, 20th Century Studios are eager to get Arnold back for Predator and a new Commando and Dan Trachtenberg has specifically said he wants Schwarzenegger for the next Yautja film.
Fansite TheArnoldFans were on location at Schwarzenegger's own Arnold Sports Festival this past weekend and relayed the intel, from Arnold himself:
They did an additional Predator and the director (Dan Trachtenberg) has been doing a great job of that. Now, he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it. As a matter of fact, FOX studios has kind of rediscovered “Arnold”. They’ve come to me and said, ‘We want you to do Predator, we just got a script for you to do Commando 2’.
Arnold's Dutch character from the 1987 original Predator was on display in a cameo appearance at the end of Trachtenberg's Predator: Killer of Killers anime, prompting speculation that the character would return in a later entry.
Back in November of 2025 we learned Arnold Schwarzenegger was in talks with Dan Trachtenberg about returning to the franchise he helped shape back in 80s. At the time, Arnold and Dan had spoken several times about the possibility so it appears now, momentum might be building for that return. As of 2026, Arnold will be pushing 79 years old so if Dutch is to make a comeback, he won't he as limber as we was back in 1987, but that's not to say Arnold couldn't still play a pivotal role in a new Predator movie.
Whether in live action or via another anime, it sounds like Schwarzenegger's return is pretty much a sure thing. As new details of his return surface, we'll be sure to keep you posted!
